Mid-term evaluation report on the effectiveness of the Amazon Fund
ECLAC (UN) coordinated an independent evaluation of the effectiveness of the Amazon Fund covering the period from 2008 to 2018
On December 5, 2019 a mid-term evaluation report on the effectiveness of the Amazon Fund was published. This evaluation covered the period from 2008 to 2018 and was carried out by a team of independent consultants, with the technical coordination of the Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean - ECLAC, of the United Nations (UN). This evaluation included two complementary studies, analyzing the theme of benefit distribution and the impact of the Rural Environmental Registry (CAR) projects supported by the Amazon Fund.
This broad assessment of the effectiveness of the Amazon Fund makes important recommendations for improvements and concludes that there is clear evidence that the Amazon Fund has contributed to reducing deforestation in the Amazon. The three documents can be checked on the Amazon Fund website in the section dedicated to Monitoring and Evaluation / Independent evaluations (click here).
